WebCheckout Partners with VTLS to Integrate with VIRTUA Library Software
CHICAGO, IL. - Continuing to expand technological borders, onShore Development has announced a partnership with library software provider VTLS, Inc., to integrate its WebCheckout Media Booking Software with the VIRTUA library system from VTLS.
VIRTUA is an ILS (Integrated Library System) with visionary technology such as FRBR (Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records), Update Notifications through SDI, User Reviews & Ratings—a peer review feature, and a Smart Device (PDA) interface to the catalog. Virtua is engineered for the flexibility and ease of use that library patrons and staff demand.
“Media booking always provides a real challenge to ILS providers because of its complexity and unique processes” said Carl Grant, President and COO of VTLS, “We looked at the option of developing our own module, as many of our competitors do, and found that the level of effort required to do this task and do it well pointed towards finding a partner that was focused on providing a superior solution. We have found that partner in onShore Development. We’re very excited about the integration of this product with VIRTUA and feel certain the result will be pleasing to our customers.”
The WebCheckout Media Booking Module was first developed for the University of Michigan’s Film and Video libraries to address a growing need for media scheduling functionality in libraries and other departments where an ILS either didn’t provide the functionality or had a lackluster solution. “We are pleased to offer WebCheckout’s Media Booking capabilities as a tightly integrated solution to existing and prospective VIRTUA customers. It allows us to focus exclusively on staying well ahead of the technology curve on media scheduling processes, which is what we do best,” says Eric Dodson, President and CEO of onShore Development. “Our biggest challenge with the Media Booking Module has been presenting it to libraries as a third party afterthought to their existing ILS. Having VTLS as a partner eliminates this problem, thus positioning WebCheckout to compete with other booking systems on features and technology where we are strongest,” adds Daniel Pyne, Vice President of Sales for onShore Development.
